The Liberty County Republican Party is pleased to announce that Jeff Leblanc, Precinct Chairman of Precinct 29 (Old River Winfree area) was voted as our Senate District’s representative to the Permanent Platform Committee. LeBlanc’s term will span from 2018 until the summer of 2020, and his vote will represent the nineteen counties that make up Senate District 3. It is important to note that not just Liberty County voted for Jeff, but that he also earned the confidence of the other eighteen counties!
LeBlanc was voted into the position after serving on the Temporary Platform Committee for this past June. As a Temporary Committeeman, Leblanc personally reviewed hundreds of resolutions passed across the state in counties and senate districts in preparation for the 2018 Republican Party of Texas State Convention. The role of the Platform Committee is to recommend the substantive text of the party platform to the roughly 9,000 delegates from across Texas who vote on the final product. The Republican Party of Texas platform houses both principles and specific legislation that Republicans expect their Republican State Representatives and State Senators to enact into law the following legislative session.
Liberty County has a rich heritage of our local citizens impacting the direction of our great state, and we are ecstatic Jeff is continuing to influence state policy. Congratulations!
P.S. Jeff is also the co-host of local radio show, The Liberty Line on local station Liberty Radio Texas. https://www.facebook.com/TheLibertyLine/
During June’s state convention in San Antonio, the race of chairman for our state party proved to be very spirited and interesting, to say the least. Elected in a special election by the State Republican Executive Committee in 2017, James Dickey was officially running for re-election for the first time in front of the state delegation.
Our Liberty County delegation voted unanimously for Chairman Dickey. Many of our members have worked closely with Chairman Dickey during the last legislative session, including Precinct Chairs Jeff Leblanc and Wesley Thomas, and Emily Cook. We all look forward to Chairman Dickey’s first full tenure as GOP chair!
Even our smallest delegate, Andrew Cook, was pumped about Chairman Dickey’s victory!
